This is a re-cell service for the battery you already own: we open the original housing, pull the worn cells, and rebuild it with a fresh matched set of 7.2V Ni-MH cells at 2.0Ah. Same housing, same tool fit, same charger, new power inside it. We do this for customers anywhere in the country, and freight both directions is already covered in the price.

Ni-MH packs usually fail one cell at a time. A single weak cell drags the whole string down, which is why a battery that used to run all afternoon quits ten minutes in and still reads charged on the charger. We replace every cell rather than the one that failed, because a mix of old and new cells pulls itself back out of balance within a few months. The new cells get matched, welded, insulated, and load tested before the pack goes back in the box.

Buy the service here, and we email you a pre-paid shipping label. Box up your CTB5172, put the label on it, and drop it with the carrier. When it lands at our shop we rebuild it and ship it back to you, again on us. There is no freight to calculate and no second charge at the end. This service covers the CTB5172 pack. Check the label on your battery before you order, because Snap-on has run several cordless platforms and the numbers are easy to mix up. If yours reads CTB312, CTB314, CTB3124, or CTB4185, we rebuild those too, and each one has its own listing.

One honest caution: if the housing is cracked, swollen, or has been pried open before, call us before you order. A case that will not close back up cleanly is not a good candidate for a rebuild, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than after you have shipped it to us. Same goes for a tool that was already acting up before the battery went down. A rebuilt pack fixes a tired battery, not a failing tool.
