Motobatt MBT6N6 6 Volt Motorcycle Battery – 6V 6Ah AGM, Replaces Yuasa 6N6-3B

The Motobatt MBT6N6 is a 6 volt motorcycle battery built for the small-displacement bikes, mopeds, and scooters that still run a 6-volt system. It's a sealed AGM rated at 6 amp-hours on the 10-hour rate, in the standard 6N6 case, so it drops into the same tray and strap your old battery came out of.

AGM means the acid is held in glass mat separators instead of sitting loose in the case. There's nothing to fill and nothing to top off, and it handles vibration far better than the flooded 6-volt batteries these bikes shipped with. That matters on a vintage machine, where the battery box is usually bolted straight to the frame with no isolation. Around Lake and Geauga County, most of these bikes come out of a garage in April after sitting all winter, and the battery is the first thing that didn't survive the wait.

One thing to check before you buy: this one comes with wire leads, not posts. Most 6N6 applications used a wire-lead battery from the factory, but if your bike has ring terminals or bullet connectors you'll need the matching adapter. Confirm you're actually on a 6-volt system, too. Plenty of bikes from this era got converted to 12 volt somewhere along the way, and a 6-volt battery in a 12-volt system won't last the season. Charging is the same story: use a charger with a 6-volt setting, because a 12-volt charger will cook this battery.
