A 72-volt cart runs on a long string of lead-acid batteries, and when that string starts to fade, replacing it battery by battery gets old fast. The Lithium Rhino LR76V105AH is a 72V lithium golf cart battery kit that swaps the whole string for one self-heated LiFePO4 pack with 105 amp-hours and 8,064 watt-hours on board.

The label says 76V, and that's the right match for a 72V cart. Lithium iron phosphate cells run at 3.2 volts apiece, and this pack wires 24 of them in series for 76.8 volts nominal, topping out around 87.6 volts at full charge. Your controller sees the voltage it was built for; the number on the case is just lithium arithmetic.

Owners of GEM cars and street-legal carts around Mentor and Kirtland will like the self-heating. Lithium cells shouldn't take a charge below freezing, so this pack warms itself first and then charges. Plug it in on a January night in an unheated garage and it handles the rest.

Replacing a 72V Lead-Acid Bank with One Lithium Golf Cart Battery

The whole lead-acid bank comes out, and one battery goes in. You lose the heavy row of batteries, the monthly check of water levels, and the acid crust on the terminals. The lead-acid charger retires too. Its charging profile doesn't suit lithium, so the kit ships with a 16A charger matched to this pack, which charges from a regular 110V outlet through the charge port adapter.

Fit is where 72V carts get tricky. This case measures 24.4 inches long, 13.4 wide and only 9.3 tall, a long, low shape that differs from a row of lead-acid batteries. Lithium Rhino lists it for Bad Boy Buggies, GEM cars and other 72V carts, and eligibility varies by model. Call us with your cart's year, make and model and we'll check it before you buy. Most installs take 2 to 4 hours. If you need more capacity than 105Ah and your cart has room for a bigger box, ask about the 170Ah version.

This is a land battery. Its IP65 case shrugs off splashes and rain but isn't built for marine use, so don't put it in a boat.

Warranty: 8 Years on the Battery

Lithium Rhino backs the battery (cells, BMS and built-in electronics) for eight years from the date you buy it, and the claim runs through our counter:

• Years 1–6: repair or replacement at no cost to you, shipping included.
• Years 7–8: repair or replacement for a flat $500 deductible; Lithium Rhino covers the rest.
• Kit components (the charger, 12V reducer, gauge, cables and switches): two years of full replacement, then replacement at half of current list price for the life of the battery.

Register the battery with Lithium Rhino within 120 days of purchase. An unregistered battery is covered for one year only; we'll do the registration with you at the counter. Physical damage, water intrusion, improper installation and charging with a charger Lithium Rhino hasn't approved are not covered, so stay with the charger that came in the kit.
