When the lead-acid bank in a 48V cart is due, the question at our counter is usually the same: buy another set of batteries, or switch to lithium this time? For owners who want to switch without cutting or drilling anything, the Lithium Rhino LR51V65AH is the 48V lithium golf cart battery conversion kit we'd start with. It sits in the middle of the Lithium Rhino 48V range, with more capacity than the 50Ah kit and a case that still mounts with hardware alone.
Here's what 65Ah gets you in practice. Lithium Rhino rates this pack for 27+ miles per charge, about a third more than the 50Ah model.
What the 48V 65Ah Kit Replaces
This single 48 volt lithium golf cart battery stands in for a full lead-acid bank of six 8V or four 12V batteries. At 14 by 10 by 9 inches and 63 pounds, it takes a fraction of the tray space and weight of the batteries it replaces. Mounting brackets aren't needed on this size, so the kit leaves them out, and the hardware in the box secures it. Budget two to four hours for the swap.
Before you order, call us with your cart's year, make and model and we'll check it before you buy. Two carts that look alike on the path can have different trays underneath.
Charging and the Round Gauge
Lithium doesn't want the charge cycle a lead-acid charger delivers, so that old charger is done. The kit includes an 18A fast charger with a charge port adapter for a standard 110V outlet. On the dash, a full-color round gauge shows two pages of battery information and doubles as the power button, and the Rhino app on your phone adds per-cell detail over Bluetooth. Around the house in Mentor or out at a lake lot in Madison, you'll know the state of charge before you pull out.
