A cart that lives in an unheated pole barn in Chardon or Newbury spends a good part of the year below 32°F. Plug a standard lithium pack in on a January morning and nothing happens. The Lithium Rhino LR51V120AH-HEATED is a self-heating 48V lithium golf cart battery built for exactly that garage. It warms its own cells to freezing, then starts charging, without you hauling a space heater out to the barn.
Why Lithium Can't Charge Below Freezing
A lithium battery charges by moving lithium into the cells' negative plates. When those cells are colder than 32°F, the lithium can't soak in fast enough. Some of it piles up on the surface as metal instead, and that damage doesn't come back out. So every LiFePO4 battery has a rule: no charging below freezing.
A standard pack follows that rule by refusing to charge. Its battery management system sees the cold and waits until the cells warm up on their own, which in a Northeast Ohio barn might be March. This one follows the same rule a different way. When you plug in below 32°F, it heats the cells inside the pack up to 32°F first, and then lets the charge begin. You plug it in and walk away, same as you would in July.
The heater is about charging. Driving is a separate matter, and Lithium Rhino rates the pack to operate from -4°F to 140°F, so a cold-morning run down the driveway or out to the property line is fine.
What It Replaces
This is a complete kit. The single 120-pound battery replaces the six 8V or four 12V lead-acid batteries in a 48V cart, and it ends the winter routine of watering cells and keeping a trickle charger on a lead bank so it doesn't freeze. The old lead-acid charger comes out too. The kit's 25A charger is set up for this battery's lithium profile.
Fitment for the 48V 120Ah Heated Pack
- No modification: most Yamaha, ICON and EZ-GO TXT carts
- Minor battery-tray modification: Club Car Precedent
- Does not fit: Club Car DS or EZ-GO RXV
The pack is 22.1 inches long. Call us with your cart's year, make and model and we'll check it before you buy. A typical install takes two to four hours.

Warranty: 8 Years on the Battery
Lithium Rhino backs the battery (cells, BMS and built-in electronics) for eight years from the date you buy it, and the claim runs through our counter:
- Years 1–6: repair or replacement at no cost to you, shipping included.
- Years 7–8: repair or replacement for a flat $500 deductible; Lithium Rhino covers the rest.
- Kit components (the charger, 12V reducer, gauge, cables and switches): two years of full replacement, then replacement at half of current list price for the life of the battery.
Register the battery with Lithium Rhino within 120 days of purchase. An unregistered battery is covered for one year only; we'll do the registration with you at the counter. Physical damage, water intrusion, improper installation and charging with a charger Lithium Rhino hasn't approved are not covered, so stay with the charger that came in the kit.
