Which battery is right for your bike?

Three chemistries, three different riders. Here's how we sort it out at the counter.

- Flooded (conventional) is the original-equipment chemistry on most cruisers and a lot of older bikes. Cheapest option, starts the bike, gets you through the season. If your bike runs the way the factory built it, this is usually the right call.

- AGM is sealed, spill-proof, and holds a charge better when the bike sits. That matters more than people realize in Northeast Ohio, where most bikes are parked five months a year. Better vibration resistance too — which is why a lot of riders move to AGM after their second flooded battery dies in the spring.

- Lithium is the lightweight, high-output option. Fast cranking, a fraction of the weight of a lead-acid battery, and worth the money if you're running a sport bike or a performance build where weight matters. Not the right call for every bike, and we'll tell you so.

- We carry Deka and Motocross for riders who want a USA-made battery from a name they recognize. Both lines we'd put on our own bikes.
